Internet & the Modern Society (Part I)
- LW: do you ever sit and think how crazy it is that we get paid to type code?
- LW: and create these things that are completely intangible
- LW: like you can never touch a website
- LW: it's a little spark of electricity or whatever on a sealed harddisk
- jaysonjphillips: but thats not unlike most things in our current society
- LW: I'm sayin... it's crazy that we spend all this time doing work on (****) that you can't even do (****) with
- jaysonjphillips: true, the funny thing is
- jaysonjphillips: trying to understand the world 15 years ago
- jaysonjphillips: like... we know and remember a world with no prevalent internet
- jaysonjphillips: but can you imagine a brick-and-mortar amazon?
- LW: I couldn't imagine building that from scratch
- jaysonjphillips: the internet is the greatest enabler of modern societies since the telephone
- LW: you ain't kiddin
